Q and NME

Contents Page :

Q's contents page is well presented over a double page, this gives the reader the oppurtunity to see every content inside the magazine. It uses big images to show reader there is much more to come, also it again keeps to 3 main colours ( RED WHITE BLACK ).

However I believe that NME's contents page is very poor, it is pushed into a corner of the 3rd page and all its shows is each artist or band featured in alphabetical order, along with the page number they are on. I believe if NME followed Q's suit of keeping it well publiced about what is to feature, they would grasp many more readers.

Font:

In Both magazines the colours used are very similar of the ones used of the front cover this is a continuing theme throughout the magazine. The same applies to the fonts. However I believe that this is very hard to read for NME and this effort really would struggle long sighted readers.

Masthead:

This I believe is not applicable for NME. However for Q it is dominated by big images which capture the readers eye, I believe without this the contents page would be egnore, but with these images it grasps their attention.

  1. What conventions do the publications have in common? They are highly generic aren't they?
